Meet the Granges
Hi! We’re Lauren and Ben Grange, and we’re a book family based in the Pacific Northwest. People often ask us if we met at work. We did not! We met in college in 2008. But since we’ve been married, we have gotten to work at the same companies twice.
Lauren first envisioned being an editor while sitting in her junior-year English class, which directed her toward studying English literature with a minor in editing and publishing. She spent all four of her college years as a circulation librarian at the university library. In 2012, Lauren completed editing internships at Deseret Book and Jolly Fish Press until being promoted to acquisitions editor at Jolly Fish. She also worked as a content writer and editor at a marketing company before we moved our little family to the New York area to pursue our publishing careers more seriously. She joined HarperCollins Publishers in 2015 as a reprint coordinator, and then a year later moved within the company to the production editorial team for William Morrow, Dey Street, Ecco, and Harper Voyager imprints.
In 2019, we relocated to Washington where Lauren was hired as a production manager/editor for Amazon Publishing. She now works on the Crossing, 47North, Little A, and Skyscape imprints (though she’s dabbled in almost all of the imprints at this point!).
Ben began his publishing career at Shadow Mountain Publishing in the marketing and publishing departments, not knowing what he wanted to specialize in but knowing that he wanted to work in the book publishing industry. He then worked at A+B Works Literary Management, the university library, Future House Publishing, The Bent Agency, and DG&B Agency. He landed his first professional position at the JABberwocky Literary Agency, and then moved to the L. Perkins Agency as a senior literary agent. As an agent, he represented dozens of authors and helped them get their books traditionally published. The books he worked on have sold hundreds of thousands of copies, hit USA Today, Associated Press, Amazon, and The New York Times bestseller lists, and won multiple prestigious awards such as the 2025 Printz Award for Brownstone by Samuel Teer.
In 2021, Ben moved to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing where he worked with top agencies and authors publishing independently. He’s now the SFF & YA editor for the Amazon Book Review, where he reads as many ARCs as possible and writes monthly columns on the best books published in those categories every month.
His own writing is represented by Ariele Fredman and Gwen Beal at United Talent Agency.
Together we have three very rambunctious children and a big fluffy dog. We dabble in far too many hobbies (painting, baking, gardening, writing, PTA, and hundreds of audiobooks for Lauren; writing, 3D printing, video game designing, ice cream making, and Pokemon card collecting for Ben) and we’re always dreaming up something exciting.
